Love and Pain
$13.95
From the Foreword by poet Taylor Wray:
In Love and Pain: Poetry from the Chambers of My Heart, Martina explores the dual themes of love and pain by turning her poet’s eye to what is, to use her phrase, both unique and universal about our experiences of them. Her introspective and at times painfully honest verse is intensely personal, but ultimately profoundly familiar.
In Martina’s poetry we find, with knowing recognition, that love may be the passionate immediacy of surrendering one’s lips to another’s, but also the simple, quotidian comfort of a quiet “sleep well.” Pain may be the sense of emptiness in a bed that now feels too big, or a grieving plea to a loved one who left this life too soon.
