Kate’s 12 Moments of Inspiration—#9

We invited author and holistic mentor Kate Brenton to talk more about what has inspired her. Here she shares a series of 12 short stories that sparked her creativity. Look out for a new story every month!

Having it All

One time I was coaching a woman on reentering the workplace after her first son. Her consternation was in trying to return to her previous availability while in truth she wanted to return to her job while also relishing the fleeting years of her newborn. This is a common conundrum.

Rather than telling her she could have it all, we talked about what was the greatest need and what could not be replaced.

From that conversation, she “remembered” that her boss wanted her to start teaching—which she was excited and a little daunted to do. This opportunity had been shelved because she could not see a way to tend to it all, but that was not what her life was asking of her. It was asking her to consider a new configuration.

In short, when she started teaching, she made her needed metrics in a shorter time and was able to “have it all” by enjoying her time away from her son while actually having more time with him! Where there is a will, there is a way, but we need to be in an expansive state to access the solution.
