Volume II / Issue 12 — 8 June 2021
As a publisher, I often get to meet writers who are focused on a specific subject or idea. Whether it’s a novel, a cookbook, a self-help book, or any other genre, one thing is always the same: The person behind the work is passionate about their topic.
Thankfully, we’ve been gifted with numerous opportunities to work with passionate and talented individuals, and our latest duo is no exception. They’ve taken it a step further, however, and combined their passion with a larger purpose.
A personal friend first referred Helen Dreiske and Meredith Park to me in the winter, and I was intrigued by the subject matter of their children’s book. Growing up on the east coast, Lyme Disease was part of my childhood lexicon. “Tick-checks” were a daily occurrence in the summer, both for us and for the dogs. Of course, back then, we didn’t know all the problems that Lyme Disease could create. Today, we’re much more savvy, though I had no idea the moon could play a role in manifesting symptoms until my meeting with Helen and Meredith.
In Moon Child Rising, Helen and Meredith passionately—and beautifully—address this unique phenomenon and offer insights into how to navigate these events for both parents and kids alike. Together, they have created an almost magical book that combines Helen’s art with Meredith’s gift for words, shedding a light on what it’s like to live with chronic Lyme Disease, especially through the moon cycles.
I believe their book will help many people feel less alone as they navigate the many facets of Lyme Disease, and we are thrilled to be sharing it with the world.
Be well,
We have a lot on the way this summer. Sign up today to be the first to hear about our upcoming offerings!
